The voracious caterpillars got the plants talking

Slightly tinting each sample, biologists placed them close to each other, and then planted on some leaves of voracious caterpillars. Plants, whose leaves began to eat caterpillars, immediately began to intensively secrete special substances, and their brethren showed a sensitive reaction, responding with a burst of calcium signal. It was the sequence and regularity of such reactions that was interpreted by experts as communication.
